Thank you for choosing our candles. We truly trust that you'll love them. Wood wicks require a little more maintenance, but they're so worth it! How to get the best burn from wood wick candles: The uniqueness of the flame produced by a wood wick causes it to produce burning characteristics that are different from other candles. Achieving the best burn: Some basic steps to help ensure you achieve the optimum burn with your wood wick candles are as follows: The biggest tip I have for you, is if the wick is too robust or high upon the initial lighting, say within 5 minutes, extinguish it, trim the wick, and relight. After that, ideally, the first use should be a 3-4 hour burn. Let the candle burn until the wax melts out to the edges of the container. Again, I have found, if the flame is too robust, blowing it out, and cutting it to 1/8 inch (as much as the cutter will remove) is very helpful. To avoid smoke or sooting, protect the candle from areas where breezes, ceiling fans, and drafts are present. Maintain the wick and a length of 1/8 inch. If the height of the flame exceeds 1 ½ inches or if the candle starts to smoke, blow out the candle, let the wax and wick cool down. Then, use wick cutters to trim it all the way to 1/8 inch. Before you relight the candle, remove all wick trimmings. The candle is designed to extinguish itself when 3/8 inch wax remains. Results of short burn time: If you failed to burn your wood wick candle for the necessary length of time so that the melted wax extends to the sides of the jar, the subsequent times the candles lit pool wax will tunnel down the center of the jar instead of across the jar. Additional Tips: Allowing the candle to burn for at least 2 - 4 hours will allow the melted wax pool to reach the sides of the jar. This will help avoid tunneling down the middle. I want you to be very pleased with your candle. If for some reason, it doesn't light properly, or it burns down the middle from an air pocket, please let me know and I'll work it out with you. Your happiness with the candles I make is important to me, plus the feedback is valuable. Finally, always place your candles on a heat resistant dry surface never put them on any surface or item that could catch fire. Enjoy the crackle and ambience. May God bless your home abundantly! Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
